Ana María Villamizar

Originally from Bogotá (Colombia), I started singing in the children's choir of the Colombian Opera. From competitions won to performances in the most important halls of the city, I wanted more experiences and to learn other musical universes.

I came to Switzerland in 2011 to perfect myself in contemporary singing with the teaching of Luisa Castellani at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano. My interest in the multitude of vocal possibilities leads me to explore the repertoire of the 20th and 21st century through works such as Sequenza III and Folk songs by Luciano Berio, Aria by John Cage, Stripsody by Cathy Berberian, Récitations by Georges Aperghis, La fabbrica illuminata by Luigi Nono, Tierkreis by Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schoenberg, among others. And installed in Geneva since 2014, to currently collaborate in the creation of young composers of the Geneva University of Music.
